The colorful poster is 20” x 23”, “Olympic Games, July 30 to August 14, 1932, Los Angeles California, Sante Fe - The Indian detours - Grand Canyon Line.” It is signed in the plate by artist Hernando Villa. It is in need of preservation to the horizontal and verticle splits. The rough edges could be matted out. Still brilliant color. Recently, a copy of this poster in very good condition sold for $5790. Truly gorgeous advertising poster derives from the golden age of illustration art when legends like Rockwell and Leyendecker ruled Madison Avenue. This poster utilizes the work of esteemed Santa Fe artist Hernando Villa and encourages southwesterners to head to the City of Angels for this greatest of international athletic competitions. This is a classic example of Depression-era advertising, with the enormous added appeal of relevance to the Olympic Games.
