GILES, Frank S (1896-1979) lived at Oklahoma's famous 101 Ranch as a young cowboy, meeting such renowned Americans as the Indian war chief Geronimo, Buffalo Bill Cody, Tom Mix and Will Rogers. Autograph Letter Signed “Col. Frank S. Giles” Tulsa Okla., Sept 6, 1971, pencil, 4pp., with original envelope to Irwin A. Maurer. Giles opens with his credibility, “I rode with Col. William Frederick Cody, Will Rogers and Tom Mix on the Fabulous and Famous 101 Ranch. I knew all of these old timers personally ... I knew Thomas Edison...” He then describes the 101 Ranch closing with “Above all are my memories of my association with the three wonderful Miller Brothers, especially Col. Joe Miller ...” In his closing paragraph, Giles describes a shootout between Ida Red and the Marshal. VG.
