A good war-date Confederate soldier's letter, 2pp. 8vo., written by Lt. Green D. Redwine, Co. I, 42nd North Carolina, "Line of Battle near Chaffins Bluff, Va., Nov. 19, 1864", in part: "…you spoke of making me a pair of jean pants. I assure you that they will be very excitable with me for I am needing a pair of that kind at this time. I prefer them a dark grey color something like Pink's home made dark jeans coat. I would like very much if you could get them made by Christmas. Get Clerrenda to cut them. She knows how to fit me. I want them tolerably large and long legs. Let me know when you get them made & if I cant get a furlough I will send for them…we are now in winter quarters and are pretty well prepared for the winter. If the Yankees would only let us alone perhaps they will have it to do…G. D. Redwine." Minor soiling, else VG
