Printed war-date Northern regimental dance invitation honoring the 3rd Massachusetts Vols. before their departure for the seat of war in the autumn of 1862, 1p. 8vo., manuscript inscription at the top: "Town Hall, West Bridgewater, Oct. 15th [1862.]" Boldly printed and entitled: "Company K, 3d Reg't. M. V. M. DANCE, For there is a time to Dance. Light Marching Orders, Dress Coat, Thin Boots…BODY-GUARD & STAFF: …Open to the right and left. "NIGGER ON A MULE COMIN'!"…Music Alden's White's Band, of Weymouth. Assisted by Flagg of Boston." Folded in thirds and given to 26 year-old stonecutter of West Bridgewater, Pvt. Seldon M. Washburn of Company K whose name is written on the verso. Light toning, else VG.
