CAMPBELL, Alexander William (1828-1893), was a Confederate States Army brigadier general during the American Civil War. He was a lawyer in Tennessee before and after the war, mayor of Jackson, Tennessee, 1856, and an unsuccessful candidate for the Democratic Party nomination for governor of Tennessee in 1880.Autograph Document Signed “A.W. Campbell” January 25, 1859, being a receipt of $2.50 from A.B. Talor Guardian of Zachary Taylor for labor. Fine condition....plus; WASHBURN, Cadwallader Colden (1818-1882) was an American businessman, politician, and soldier who founded a mill that later became General Mills. A member of the Washburn family of Maine, he was a U.S. Congressman and governor of Wisconsin, and served as a general in the Union Army during the American Civil War.Document Signed “C.C. Washburn” September 11, 1879, being a check issued to H.A. Drapert on his Union Trust Company account. Fine condition.
