War-date Union officer Document Signed by Colonel John M. Gosline, MWIA at Gaines’ Mill, Va., 6/27/1862, 1pp. oblong octavo, September 9, 1861, “Headquarters, ‘Pennsylvania Zouave’ Reg’t,” Philadelphia, Pa., and records the muster of Thomas D. Ayres “a member of Capt. Edward Carroll’s Company” and is signed by Capt. Edward Carroll who was WIA in at Gaines’ Mill, captured and exchanged that same day for Captain Pinkney A. Kennerly, 8th North Carolina Infantry. Fine condition. The 95th Pennsylvania Infantry was a volunteer infantry regiment which served in the Union Army during the American Civil War. This regiment was also sometimes referred to as Gosline's Zouaves because its members wore Zouave-style uniforms during the early portion of their service tenure. As the war progressed, the regiment's uniforms were modified, keeping the Zouave-style jackets and vests, but eliminating the scarlet pants, scarlet-trimmed kepis, and tan gaiters. Three of its members were ultimately awarded the Medal of Honor.
