Speech of Hon. Jno. T. Nixon, of New Jersey, in the House of Representatives, April 11, 1862, Washington, D.C.: Scammell & Co., printers. 1862, 8pp., 9 x 5-3/4 in., disbound, housed in Mylar dust jacket. John Thompson Nixon (1820-1889) U.S. Republican Congressman from New Jersey, serving from 1859 to 1863. He graduated from Princeton in 1841 and was admitted to the bar in 1845. He practiced law in Bridgeton, New Jersey from 1845 to 1849, and resumed his practice after leaving Congress from 1863 to 1870. He was appointed judge of the U.S. District Court for the District of New Jersey in 1870, and served until his death in 1889. Tiny remnants to left margin, light toning and soiling, overall very good condition.
