Single music sheet, color printed, 5” x 8’, published by Charles Magnus, titled “The Contraband's Adventures”, with an image of two Black men on barrels and one of them scrubbing his leg. From the stereotypical 19th century African American dialect, the lyrics in small part, “Oh dey got me to a tub, and dey all began to scrub, I tell you it was a perfect sight, For some put on the soap, And de oders dey did rub, But dey found dey couldn’t wash a nigger white.”
