Autograph Letter Signed by Charles M. Schroeder, Troop C, 5th Cavalry, Hermacao, Puerto Rico, 4pp. quarto, September 1, 1899, and reads in part: “...I have been sick in the hospital with malaria...we had quite a time of it during the storm...About fifteen men were injured at the barracks...about fifty bodies of dead natives were picked up in this town and there were two hundred injured...” Fine condition.
