Two pages on light blue paer, 8” x 10”, withdrawn from ledger book, with cotton picking records of Hardscrabble Plantation, during the week of October 27, 1861. In part, “Thursday 27, I gave out allowance to Negroes this morning. I then went to Simmerport.... Monday 28, I had all the hands Picking Cotton to day except Edd Maria and Quash, Maria washing, Edd making baskets and Quash attending to the hogs.” The balance of the page has extraneous notes. the reverse “Daily Record of Cotton Picked on Hardscrabble Plantatioln during the week commencing October 21, 1861. Cotton previously picked, 100,596. This week’s picking, 23, 653. Total amount picked, 124, 249.”
