A rare war-date Confederate Jefferson Davis presidential vote certification document, 1p. legal size folio, official court document, "State of Alabama, Probate Judge's office, Frankfort, Franklin Co., Ala., Nov. 9, 1861", reading, in part: "I, James W. Legion, sheriff of said county hereby certify that I did…in the presence of others…examined and estimate the vote returned from various precincts in said county…cast on the 6th November, 1861 for the purpose of electing eleven electors…of the state of Alabama for President and Vice President of the Confederate States of America-which results as follows, viz-Thomas Fearn…Reuben Chapman…Walter Reynolds…Wilson Ashley…in testimony whereof I have…set my hand…this, the 9th day of November, 1861. James W. Legion, sheriff of Franklin County, Alabama". Each elector received 963 votes. Archival tape repairs at fold splits, else VG.
