Letter written to Gen’l D. Ruggles, Provost Marshall’s Office, Tangipahoa, Louisiana, September 20, 1862, 2pp., by PM George MartinVG. In part, “I enclose you two letters recorded by me from St. Tammony and also note from Captain Foster in which he says that it is reported that the enemy will attack at Pantchitoula in larger force ... Thinking it advisable from what LeBlanc writes me I shall refuse to give Wm Paudely a pass.... None of the prisonerstaken at Pantchitoula have been reported to this post. I understand that gen’l Thompson has conducted to return Captain Thomton, the surgeon and one prisoner acting as stereo and to the surgeon to New Orleans under flag of truce ... “ The two additional letters are attached.
