In full, “pass the Hon. Chas. M. Conrad M.C unmolested within the limits of this dept- also to & from Charleston-S.C.G.T. Beauregard, Gnl Cmdg. PS. I send you the above with pleasure, GTB.” Charles Magill Conrad (1804-1878) was a Louisiana politician who served in the United States Senate, United States House of Representatives, and Confederate Congress, 1862–1864.
