A one-sided 5" x 7" sheet containing "General Orders No. 3" from the Confederate Adjutant and Inspector General's Office, February 5, 1865. It contains "An Act to provide for the appointment of a General in Chief of the Armies of the Confederate States" then announces that Robert E. Lee has been appointed to that position. Faint stamp of the War Record archives. Loss and burn marks at bottom right corner. Printed for distribution to members of the Confederate Congress and military officers and officials. An interesting pair of imprints that serve as "bookends" for Lee's Civil War career.
