Wilson writes his mother, in part, “I have been here seventeen months & and I don’t think I have missed three meals during the whole time. ... I wish you could be up here to see men skate on the ice. they can go like a top. Of its a delightful sport I know. Ice as far as you can see in the lake. ...”
