Signed CDV “T(homas) F. Meagher, Brig Gen’l, Irish Brigade” with Molleron, Brooklyn backmark. The signature is on the fron albumen and the words ‘Irish Brigade’ are on the fron mount. Former Colonel of the famed "fighting 69th" New York, Meagher was raised by Lincoln to Brigadier General in February 1862 and given command of the Irish Brigade that gained immortal fame in blood, notably at Marye's Heights.
