Ledger sheet 12” x 6-1/2”, partially printed, “Daily Account of Tolls Received, for Chelsea Bridge, March 16, 1804” There are nine classes of tolls. the most used class is 40 Foot Passengers at 2 cents each. Total received for the day, $7.02. The Chelsea bridge connected Charlestown & Chelsea, which is near site of current Tobin Bridge. In 1802 the Salem Turnpike and Chelsea Bridge Corporation were given permission to construct, maintain and operate a toll bridge between Chelsea and Charlestown, bridge was complete in 1803.
