Autograph Letter Signed by Clayton Wilson, Captain, 1st Battalion, Alabama Legion, 2p. quarto, Camp near Chattanooga, October 3, 1863, and reads in part: "…You have heard & seen full details of the battle of Chickamauga the largest yet on record. I saw more dead men than I ever want to see again unless they are all Yankees. I can look with satisfaction & delight at the deaths of the whole entire Nation of Yankees and Unionists. I had charge of Buckner's Army Corps supply Ordnance Train. Longstreet having been put in Command of the left wing and Buckner's Corps being in that wing. Our B's Division was sent to Hill Corps. Buckner falling back to the command of a division. My train was ordered up to Genl Longstreet's Hd. Qrs. Long street not having any train for transportation. Orders were issued to reduce transportation so as to give L. something to move his Army with. I turned over the most of my train, leaving some 7 wagons & c. in my charge. The Chf of Ordnance Longstreet's Corps was in requisition for 25 more additional wagons & teams. (Nothing new when Yanks get reinforcements Bragg will attack him again or fall back.) I am to receive them and take charge of Long street's reserve ordnance train. I am now awaiting the wagons & teams. You have heard of Maj. Gels - Lt. Genl. Being put under arrest by Bragg. Such is the case. Lt. Genl. Polk, Maj Genl Hineman and Maj Genl Forrest. All for disobedience of Orders. Hineman was ordered to attack the Enemy at McLemore's Cove at daylight did not commence the attack until 4 o'clock the next evening after the battle of Sunday 20th Sept. Polk was ordered to move after the retreating Yankees at daylight Monday morning did not move until 2 o'clock Monday evening. Forrest was ordered to cross the Tenn River & intercept Yankee supplies & c but instead of doing so he went off on his own hook in East Tenn making demonstrations in an opposite direction and in conjunction with Bragg's Order Wheeler ordered Forrest to meet with his forces at a certain point he disobeyed that order…" Fine.
