Confederate postal used cover signed by "Lt. Scott Co. G. 12th Ga. Regt." with manuscript "DUE" and circular "10", addressed to Irby Scott of Eatonton, Georgia. Fine condition. Irby Goodwin Scott (1840-1925) served with Company G "Putnam Light Infantry, 12th Georgia Infantry, Doles' Brigade, Rodes' Division, 2nd Corps, Army of Northern Virginia, C.S.A. Wounded in shoulder and thigh 8/30/1862 in 2nd Battle of Manassas, VA, he surrendered with his unit at Appomattox, Virginia on April 9, 1865. His letters are recorded in the book "Lee and Jackson's Bloody Twelfth: The Letters of Irby Goodwin Scott, First Lieutenant, Company G, Putnam Light Infantry, Twelfth Georgia Volunteer Infantry" edited by Johnnie P. Pearson.
