ORR, Robert Levan (1836-1894) Civil War Congressional Medal of Honor recipient. Served as Colonel of the 61st Pennsylvania Volunteer Infantry. He was awarded the CMOH for his bravery at Petersburg, Virginia on April 2, 1865. His citation reads "Carried the colors at the head of the column in the assault after two color bearers had been shot down". His Medal was awarded to him on November 28, 1892. He was one of eight 61st Pennsylvania Infantry soldiers to be awarded the Medal of Honor for bravery during the Civil War (the others being 1st Lieutenant Charles H. Clausen, Corporal Joseph Fisher, Corporal John C. Matthews, Private Milton Matthews, Captain George W. Mindil, Private Theodore Mitchell, and Sergeant Sylvester D. Rhodes). War-date Union officer Document Signed "Robt. L. Orr" Commanding Company, 1pp. quarto, Jun 24, 1862, Camp Lincoln, being a discharge for Daniel Attwood from Company I, 61st Pennsylvania Vols. Fine condition.
