ADAMS, John (1825-1864) was an officer in the United States Army. With the onset of the American Civil War, he resigned his commission and joined the Confederate States Army, rising to the rank of brigadier general before being killed in action at the Second Battle of Franklin in 1864. War-date clipped signature "John Adams Capt. CS". Small loss to J, else very good condition.
