MANSFIELD, Joseph King Fenno (1803-1862) was a career United States Army officer, civil engineer, and a Union general in the American Civil War, mortally wounded at the Battle of Antietam. Autograph Letter Signed "Jos. K.F. Mansfield, Capt. Corps Engineers, 1pp. quarto, September 20, 1844, and reads in part: "...I have this day contracted with Henry S. Brainard for 14 stone...for the Bridge Way...of Fort Pulaski..." Fine condition.
