REAGAN, John Henninger (1818-1905) was an American politician from the U.S. state of Texas. A Democrat, Reagan resigned from the U.S. House of Representatives when Texas seceded from the Union and joined the Confederate States of America. He served in the cabinet of Jefferson Davis as Postmaster General. War-date Letter Signed "John H. Reagan" as Postmaster General of the Confederate States of America, 1pp. quarto, May 13, 1861, addressed to A.H. Campbell, and reads in part: "...You are hereby appointed a Clerk in the Post Office Department of the Confederate States of America, at a salary of twelve hundred per annum..." Fine condition.
