War-date Confederate Autograph Letter Signed "C. Baskworth" as Major, 1pp. octavo, pencil, retained copy, and reads in part: "...To Genl. Ruggles just recd following from my cavalry pickets. The messenger left Eastport at sunrise, all is quiet in the river. The gunboats remained half hour and left 3 o'clock yesterday. Since 25 landed a few movements, I have scouts to Clifton 40 miles below Savannah - to Waynesboro 15 miles below Clifton..." verso has "Tell Genl. Ruggles to come in office Gen. Chalmers in office wants him..." Fine condition.
