Richardson, William H. (William Harvie), 1795-1876, Richmond, Va. soldier and statesman, veteran of War of 1812. In 1821 he was appointed clerk of the council of state, and 1841-1876 served as Adjutant-General of Virginia. Manuscript document signed "Wm. H. Richardson CS", General Head Quarters, Addj. Gen'ls Off. Richmond, April 22, 1861, to General Alpred C. Moore. In part, "You will forthwith send to this place all the armed volunteer companies of Artillery Light Infantry and Riflemen in your Brigade .... Answer at once".
