MOORE, Samuel Preston (1813-1889) was an American military physician, who served in the medical corps of the United States Army during the Mexican-American War, and later as the Confederate Surgeon General throughout nearly all of the American Civil War. CARRINGTON, George William (1838-1913). In 1861, he came South volunteering his services to the Confederate States. He was assigned to the hospital corps in Richmond. Document Signed, "S. Moore" FOUR times in response to a letter, Richmond, April 26, 1864, 2pp. with tipped on responses, on Medical Director Office letterhead written and signed by the Medical Director, William Carrington. Carrington is writing to Sec. of War Jas. A. Seddon regarding recently signed act which increases the pay of medical clerks to $250 per month.
