A complete and authentic issue of the Philadelphia Inquirer, August 23, 1862, 8pp., disbound, fine. Front page displays a rare illustration "THE FRIGATE 'NEW IRONSIDES'" As expected, there are dozens of war reports including the Indian Massacre in Minnesota". Commodore Charles Stewart sponsored the ship as she was launched on 10 May 1862. She was commissioned on 21 August.
