RINGGOLD, Cadwallader (1802-1867) was an officer in the United States Navy who served in the United States Exploring Expedition, later headed an expedition to the Northwest and, after initially retiring, returned to service during the Civil War. Carte de visite of Commodore Ringgold, inscribed and signed on verso "For Mrs. Stark with the compliments of her friend Commodore Ringgold Nyack, 12 Jan'y 1844. Fine condition...plus; Commodore Ringgold calling card with invitation in his hand for Mrs. Stark to accompany him to breakfast. Fine condition. (2 items)
