Two c. 1780 18th Century period Engravings of James Bowdoin, one being in Silhouette engraved S. Hill, Sculp., the other a handsome Portrait Engraving by J.R. Smith After the original painting by Gilbert Stuart. James Bowdoin (1726-1790). Member of the Continental Congress; 2nd Governor of Massachusetts (1785-1786), a Founder and the First President of the American Academy of Arts and Science. They measure 4" x 7" and 4" x 6" respectively and they are expertly mounted into larger 10" x 12" presentation sheets. These are two excellent quality, crisp and very clean deeply embossed original engravings. Fine. (2 items)
