A nice war-date manuscript Confederate General Order, 1p. large folio, Greenville, Tenn., March 23, 1864 issued by Lieut. General James Longstreet appointing a medical board to examine applicants for disability, reading, in part: "…General Orders No. 36 The following named medical officers will constitute an examining board for the retirement of disabled officers and soldiers…Surgeon J. S. Gilmore PACS, Surgeon W. M. Post PACS, Surgeon R. Barksdale PACS. The board will assemble on the Wednesday of each week near these Head Quarters and will be governed by governed by the act and order recited…By command of Lieut. Genl. Longstreet, (signed) G. M. Sorrel, Lieut. Col…". Signed and made official by Capt. Charles A. DeRussy as A. A. G. to General Wharton and issued to Lieut. Col. J. Lyle Clarke 30th Battalion Virginia sharpshooters. Negligible paper loss at upper and right hand margin, else very good.
