Rare Confederate infantryman's war-date an official pre-printed Confederate military document, 1p. oblong legal size folio, "Descriptive List and Account of Pay and Clothing," Howlett's Grove, Chesterfield, Va., Nov. 9, 1864 for Sergeant John T. Coakley Co. A, 30th Virginia [Sharpshooters]. In February, 1862, John T. Coakley was enrolled in the Confederate army "For the war." The document states that he was a twenty-eight year old harness maker living then in Fredericksburg, Virginia. Apparently, Coakley was hard on clothing as the document also shows that within one year's service he used up three pair of pants, three caps, two jackets, two pair of shoes and five shirt while needing only one pair of drawers! Signed and made official by Capt. John K. Anderson who was twice wounded during the war first, at the battle of Sharpsburg, MD on Sept. 17, 1862 and then again on May 16, 1864 during the battle of Drewry's Bluff, Va. Heavy soiling, as seen condition issues.
