Union soldier letter, datelined Collierville Tenn. Feb 9th, 1864 and signed Theo. In part, "We leave here in a day or two on one of the Biggest raid ever been made I think we will go South to probably have a fight with Forrest or some other fellows. The expedition is all Cavalry and will be numbered at 10,000 men anyhow. Direct to Memphis as some place down here and I I think it (Cavalry) will follow us. .. I don't think we will have such good times going below as we will be getting too far in Dixie to suit me. ..."
