Confederate soldier letter signed only by Watkins, written to Brig. Gen. Benjamin Hill, datelined Macon Ga., Feby 27th 1865, 2pp., VG. In part, "I see a number of men who are determined to join you as soon as they are relieved. Major Laudesale requests to inform you that if you want him, send him orders and he will report at once to your headquarters ... I've been here trying to get up some supplies and some money but as yet I have no success ... Lord only knows for the people are so intensely selfish. ... My leave of absence is nearly out & I have been at home but one day with my family. If I don't hear from you very soon, I shall have to fall in with my old Command.
