DEKAY, Drake (1836-1886), aide-de-camp to General Joseph K.F. Mansfield, was commissioned 1st Lieutenant 14th Infantry on May 14, 1861. By 1864, he had received promotions to captain, major and lieutenant colonel for gallant and meritorious service at the battles of the Wilderness and Spotsylvania. Enormous, 8” x 3” signature, Autograph Quotation Signed “Drake De Kay” 1pp. oblong octavo, “Extra submission on entire annihilation, Maj. Gl, Drake De Kay”. Fine condition.
