Four page letter written to her husband, October 11, 1861, on scarce Kentucky patriotic letterhead, “KENTUCKIANS! BEWARE OF TRAITORS,” followed by “UNITED WE STAND DIVIDED WE FALL” around an image, then, “If Kentucky tomorrow unfurls the banner of resistance, I never will fight under that banner, I owe a paramount allegiance to the whole Union-a subordinate on to my own State.-Henry Clay”. Writing to her husband Joseph Redinhaur, Susan advises of the conditions at home, sends money and mentions friends.
