Union soldier's war-date letter, 4pp. 8vo., written by Pvt. Marcus Walker, Co. E, 141st New York Vols., on printed multicolored "House of Representatives" patriotic stationery, "Trinity Hospital, [Washington], Dec. 7, 1862," to his parents, reading in part: "-yesterday I went up to the Patent office and saw a good many little curiosities - I saw Washington's suit of clothes - his war sword and set of dishes and Jackson's coat worn in his last battle and more medals that you could shake a stick at - presented to the presidents. The declaration of Independence and Washington's commission etc. - M. Walker." The original stamped transmittal cover is included. Negligible spotting, else VG.
