DEKAY, Drake (1836-1886), aide-de-camp to General Joseph K.F. Mansfield, was commissioned 1st Lieutenant 14th Infantry on May 14, 1861. By 1864, he had received promotions to captain, major and lieutenant colonel for gallant and meritorious service at the battles of the Wilderness and Spotsylvania. Document Signed " "Drake De Kay" 1pp, on official Head Quarters Defences of Washington", December 10, 1862, approving a 30 day leave of absence due to illness.
