RICKETTS, R. Bruce (1839-1913) is best known for his battery's defense against a Confederate attack on Cemetery Hill on the second day of the Battle of Gettysburg on July 2, 1863. Personally-owned and signed on the cover "R. Bruce Ricketts, Capt. 1st. Pa Arty." a booklet "Instructions to Mustering Officers" 1863, Washington, strung bound, 49 pages. Spine shows wear and loss of paper yet still tightly bound.
