Union soldier's 3pp. letter written by George W. Jones on hand tinted patriotic Magnus letterhead. Dateline; Camp near Warrenton Junction, August 17th, 1863. In part, "For the past two or three days we have been laying under marching orders but I think it was the effect of some cavalry on our part which looked as if Lee meant to attack us. I do not think however that there is any danger of such a thing ... If you can conveniently, I want you to send a copy of Harper's Weekly as there is an advertisement there which I wish to see. ..."
