Union soldier's 1pp. letter, with original cover, written by George de Peyster Arden who enlisted on 8/20/1862 at Goshen, NY and was commissioned into Field & Staff NY 124th Infantry as a 1st Lieutenant, promoted Lt Colonel 5/25/1864 and again Major 6/3/1865. Arden is writing Dr. J. M. McCalla. Dateline; Hd Qrs 10th Lt Artillery, Sept 16/64. In large part, "Dear Dr. Excuse my couriosity but how are you feeling this morning. I feel as if I had been tight last night ... Was I? ... Didn't I beat that last game of Eucha? Come over and see me & bring your friends, sorry can't furnish transportation. Yours in distress, Geog P Andren".
