issued for Henry Hescock who was commissioned into MO 1st LA Batty A., 9/18/1861 and was promoted as Capt 1/31/1862. He is listed as POW 9/20/1863 Chickamauga, GA (Confined at Macon, GA & Columbia, SC.) The Third Exchange check was issued to Hescock on the account of Frank Sherman, Chicago Ill., in the amount of $100 Gold, Columbia SC, Jan 7, 1865. On the reverse, Hescock writes "This money was loaned to me while a prisoner of war at Cola SC for my own personal use. I therefore desire it promptly paid, Henry Hescock, Capt. 1st Mo Artily."
