The shield-shaped patch, 4-3/4" x 5-1/2" is on blue background with beige die-cut lettering, "GAR, 49." As there were only six vets in attendance, this is exceptionally unique patch. ... plus, a First Day Cover, canceled Indianapolis, August 29, 1949. According to the Indiana Historical Bureau, there were SIX surviving veterans in attendance, all of whom were pictured in the Indianapolis News. The youngest was 100, the oldest was 105. The Final Encampmnet was August 28, 1949 thru September 1, 1949.
