STEVENSON, Carter (1817 - 1888) was a career military officer, serving in the United States Army in several antebellum wars and then in the Confederate States Army as a general in the Western Theater of the American Civil War. War-date Autograph Letter Signed "C.L. Stevenson" 1pp. Quarto, August 31, 1861, addressed to General H.R. Jackson, and reads in part: "...The detachment of Capt Smiths and Flournys Companies of Cavalry which have been serving here for some time have this day been ordered to join their respective companies...Col. Baldwin's Regt not being prepared for the field, will not join…" Fine condition.
