A pair of partly printed documents, each 7-1/2” x 6”, concerning the same two slave women. The documents order the sheriff to detain a negro girl Lucy and a negro girl named Nancy, each value of 200 pounds in the 1813 document ... and $500 in the 1822 document. The detention is the result of separate law suits, the 1813 suit was brought by Alexander Mebane against Coonrod Long; the 1822 suit brought by John McMurray against Frances Child.
