A chilling artist rendition, 9 3/8" x 5", albumen photograph on larger board mount, of the Antietam battlefield as Captain John Hope, 2nd Vermont Volunteers witnessed it after the battle, titled: "After The Battle, "Bloody Lane, Antietam," with credit reading, in full: "From the original painting by Capt. James Hope from a sketch taken by him on the spot." Copyrighted on August 28, 1889, "for sale by J. D. Hope, Watkins, N. Y." The first we have seen of this image. Printed poem, Bloody Lane, on verso. Very negligible spotting, else VG.
