A complete and authentic issue of the Federal Gazette & Baltimore Advertiser, July 25, 1796, 4pp., disbound, fine. On page 2, running 1-1/2 columns An Act for the relief and protection of American Seaman, approved by the Senate and the House of Representatives, May 20, 1796 and now signed in type "Go: Washington, President of the United States. The Act provided certificates for the protection of American seamen from the threat of impressment by the Royal Navy. Additionally there are six Runaway Slave Reward ads with rewards of $6-$20 and carrying detail descriptions of the runaway.
