A complete and authentic issue of The Federal Gazette, Baltimore, December 16, 1796, disbound, 4pp., rag paper, VG. On September 19, 1796 Washington announced his farewell address to the American people. From the interior there are two letters written to president Washington, each with a letter signed in type "George Washington". The first is a 1-1/4 column address to Congress, signed in type by Vice President Adams expressing the gratitude of the nation for Washington's service to the country. Washington responds directly to Adams. The second letter is from both Vermont Senators in which they address the Vermont legislature with a letter to President Washington. Washington responds directly to those Senators.
