Rare war-date, ca. 1863, printed advertising leaflet, boldly declaring: "East, South and West! HARDEN'S EXPRESS (established 1839-Re-Organized 1861.)". The text outlines the service their firm offers, reading, in part: "Offers unsurpassed facilities for the transmission of Merchandise, Valuable Packages, Specie, Bank Notes…by Passenger Trains to…Baltimore, Annapolis, Washington…Nashville, Cairo…also, to Alexandria, Fortress Monroe, Norfolk…Newbern, Port-Royal, Ship Island and New Orleans. AT THE LOWEST RATES, and with the utmost Dispatch. Packages for Soldiers conveyed at half the usual Rates…Heavy Merchandise, Army Stores, Sutler Goods…taken at Greatly Reduced Rates!…". Framed, ex-Norm Flayderman collection. Interestingly, famed department store, Macy's offered this piece for sale in the 1950's where Norm undoubtedly purchased it. Sensing it's rarity, Norm kept it in his collection and only came out following his passing. The first we have seen of this perhaps unique broadside. Not examined out of the frame. Damp stained lower right, tape stain bleeding through from verso at the top, else VG.
