A complete and authentic issue of “The Weekly Magazine or Edinburgh Amusement” Thursday, July 6, 1775, 32pp., disbound, one loose section, VG. From the interior, “An authentic account of the taking of fortess of Ticonderoga and Crown Point by a party of the Connecticut forces”, in part, “... Accordingly the men raised and proceeded as directed by said Mott and Phelps, Col. Ethan Allen commanding and soldiery. On Tuesday they surprised and took the fortress, making prisoners the commandant and his party. .... Ethan Allen, fearful of an attempt from Gov. Carelton to retake the place, has written tot he committee of Albany for a supply of 500 men ....” Then, from Virginia, a Proclamation by Torie Governor Dunmore, in small part, “Whereas I have been informed from undoubted authority that a certain Patrick Henry of the county of Hanover, and a number of deluded followers have taken up arms, chosen their officers, and stiling themselves an independent company, have marched out of their county and put themselves in a posture of war ... excited the people to join in these outrageous and rebellious practices to the terror of all his majesty’s faithful ... oppose them and their designs by every means ... involve the whole country in the most dire calamity ...” there are several additional pages of news from America.
