Second Lieutenant Isaac D. Landis. Landis served with the 9th Penn. Calvary from October 1861 through July 1865. He was wounded in action in Griswoldville, Georgia in November 1864. He mustered out as a Second Lieutenant. Letter archive of 15 letters dated from 1857 - 1869, with 10 letters being war date, dated from December 1861 - June 1865. Content includes a written document pertaining to an attack on a Captain in the 9th by another who was "intoxicated"....a grand celebration....prisoner at Fortress Monroe and scession....marching....troops massacred in Virginia....8,000 prisoners....regiment getting marching orders....guard duty....presenting a captain a saber....getting rifles and getting paid....an attack where one man struck behind the ear and the other between the eyes. Also a document dated February 1868 turning in equipment. Also included are two issues of the Savannah Republican newspaper, and other letters and ephemera related to the Landis family. A few of the letters are light, one war date letter has a nice colorful image of General George McClellan.
